COSTUME CONTEST APPLICATIONS
The professional category applications are only available for our Summer show in August.
2020 DCC Spring Edition Applications are now open! Held 3pm, March 15th
Tots (under 5) - No prejudging or online applications, just generic music, fun and prizes. We encourage parents to come on stage with your child if they are shy (even better if you are in themed costumes with them!)
There are a limited number of spaces available for on the day sign ups in our Cosplay Village located on in the main hall

WHEN IS THE CONTEST?
The masquerade contest is from 3pm to 5pm on the Sunday of DCC (Info Desk sign ups – SUNDAY until 2PM or capacity reached) and Saturday 6pm to 7.30pm (professionals) in the Auditorium..
WHAT ARE THE CATEGORIES?
Professional (16+) * AUGUST ONLY- Online Pre-registration only - 600 Euro Prize fund (Includes Pre-Judging Segment - Entries close 1st August
Adult/General Entry (16+) - Online Pre Registration/Limited on the day sign ups - Prize to be announced
Under 16's - Online Pre Registration/Limited on the day sign ups - Prize to be announced
Group (All Ages) - Online Pre Registration/Limited on the day sign ups - Prize to be announced
Tots (Under 5) - On the day sign ups only - Children Specific Prizes

HOW DO I ENTER?
We will have multiple categories with the majority of entries only being accepted via pre-registration with our online forms (with the exception being the children's category).
We will have a limited number of spots available for sign-ups on the day via a sign-up sheet located at our information desk, but please note, spaces are limited! Use the sign up links at the top of the page to ensure your entry!
Please note, while anyone may apply to enter the Professional category, applications will be screened. Those entering the professional category must have made at least 70% of their costume by themselves and must be able to provide progress pictures. *Please note we do not allow models/other people to enter with your costume.
PROFESSIONAL CATEGORY JUDGING
So, the judges will judge in 5 categories, awarding up to 20 points in each category.
ACCURACY: Please compare costume with reference photo provided and grant up to 20 points for accurate replication. CONSIDER colours, structure, texture, fabric, materials, scaling, quantity, length etc.
CRAFTSMANSHIP: Please grant up to 20 points for detailing work, finishing touches, overall cleanliness. CONSIDER: fraying edges/glued together parts/improper stitches, does it fit well and sit on the cosplayer neatly, visible imperfections, use of proper techniques, how well techniques were executed.
FUNCTIONALITY: Please grant up to 20 points for the replication process and all solutions used to make the costume and props USABLE and FUNCTIONAL. CONSIDER: can cosplayer move in the costume, can specific part of the costume be used for it's purpose (zips, pockets, buttons, holsters, bags, belts) or are they fake, can things be taken off and put back on easily (like hats, gloves, shoes, bags), can props be used according it's purpose (heaviness, sturdiness, if sword bag on the back can the sword be put in bag by cosplayer and taken back out).
PLEASE NOTE: subsequent issues with the costume on stage may be deducted from this mark.
CREATIVITY: Please grant up to 20 points for the creative process. CONSIDER: look deeply into the WIP photos provided and talk to cosplayer about their struggles with making the costume, how did they manage to solve issues arose during the process of making costume, did they have any struggles at all, if they had access to special tools or if they had to come up with any alternative solutions.
STAGE PRESENCE: Please grant up to 20 points for stage performance. CONSIDER: creativity, technical level, special effects, stage props, audience reaction, if entertaining, understandable, engaging, emotional.
PLEASE NOTE: WE DO NOT JUDGE COSTUME IN THIS PART. IF ANYTHING FALLS, BREAKS IT IS NOT TO LOWER THE PERFORMANCE SCORE.
